MU Health Care is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team! Requirements
- EMT licensure by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
- Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
- Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient medical history and recent history of illness or injury.
- Perform a physical assessment to determine the condition of the patient.
- Implement care based on assessment and perform ongoing assessments to gauge the effectiveness of treatments and adjust treatment as needed.
- Administer patient care to the extent of University Ambulance protocols for BLS care.
- Perform BLS level skills and use equipment such as: spinal immobilization, Hare and Sager traction splints.
- Maintain vehicle readiness, ensuring vehicles are stocked and cleaned.
- Operate an Emergency Vehicle in a safe manner.
- Work within the local EMS system.
- Provide assistance to Paramedic partners.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ALS equipment used by the Ambulance Service.
- Familiarity operating UHC cardiac monitors and applying EKG leads.
- Prepare written reports that document the details of ambulance calls for service, including accurate descriptions of the patient condition, care given, patient response, and will be a basis for QA/QI and patient billing.
- Ensure that the EMT maintains all required licenses, certifications, attends mandatory classes, and UHC system requirements without lapsing.
- May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
