About The Position

Medic 1 Ambulance is a municipally owned EMS agency serving Berrien County, MI. We operate a well-balanced system with stations covering over 42 miles of Lake Michigan coastline, 50+ miles of interstate, and both rural and urban areas. We believe in utilizing our EMTs to their fullest potential, with opportunities on static ALS units or independently on 911 BLS Ambulances. Our tiered system includes BLS, LALS, and ALS ambulances, as well as ALS non-transport units for BLS crew intercepts. Our BLS scope of practice is progressive, including CPAP, Albuterol, Glucagon, Epinephrine, and Zofran. Medic 1 Ambulance also has its own education department, providing free continuing education and in-house Advanced EMT and Paramedic education.

Requirements

Critical thinking in stressful situations.
Knowledge of common physical illnesses, obvious symptoms, and appropriate medical terminology.
Currently licensed State of Michigan EMT.
Current BLS Card.
Complete knowledge of protocols and skillful application of those protocols.
Able to maintain harmonious relationships with fellow crew members, public safety personnel, and the general public under stressful situations.
Able to show empathy towards patients and others.

Responsibilities

Utilize EMT skills to the fullest potential on static ALS units or independently on 911 BLS Ambulances.
Respond to medical emergencies within Berrien County, MI.
Apply progressive BLS scope of practice, including CPAP, Albuterol, Glucagon, Epinephrine, and Zofran.
Work effectively within a tiered system of BLS, LALS, and ALS ambulances, and ALS non-transport units.
Maintain harmonious relationships with fellow crew members, public safety personnel, and the general public.
Show empathy towards patients and others.
