About The Position
The Public Safety team maintains a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors. Its EMTs work with the Emergency Department and respond to in-house emergencies. The team is seeking an experienced EMT. The position works 12-hour shifts from 0700 to 1900, plus one 8-hour shift per pay period. Every other weekend and holidays are required.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- National Registered EMT-B and Delaware EMT-B certifications.
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVO-C).
- At least 2 years of work experience interacting with patients in an emergency setting.
Nice To Haves
- BLS with BLS Instructor certification preferred.
- 911 experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Emergency Department patients for changes in medical condition that warrant notifying the triage nurse to re-evaluate them.
- Monitor the waiting area for safety hazards and take corrective action when hazards are observed.
- Assist patients and visitors with questions and concerns as needed.
- Offload and load patients for helicopter landings.
- Respond to outpatient or visitor emergencies throughout Christiana Hospital and provide care to stabilize the individual.
- Transport patients to the appropriate area for treatment.
- Assist Emergency Department staff during periods of high patient volume.
