This role involves providing emergency medical services as either an EMT or a Paramedic. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available. The primary goal is quality patient care, with all patient care records subject to review. Requirements

New York State EMT certificate
New York State drivers license (if required by Company/Lifeline)
Any and all other requirements for the position as determined by the New York State Department of Health or other regulating agency or statute.
New York State Certified EMT Paramedic Card (for Paramedics)
REMSCO/REMAC Paramedic Certification (for Paramedics)

Responsibilities

Arrive on time, in proper uniform, neat and clean, and in possession of required certifications and identification.
Perform a visual inspection of the patient compartment, inside and out, for cleanliness and damage.
Ensure access to and egress from the patient compartment via the rear and side doors.
Clean the patient compartment and equipment as necessary.
Complete the inventory check sheet and replace damaged or missing items.
Present the signed, dated check-out sheet to the supervisor.
Ensure the ambulance is at all times in compliance with New York State Department of Health regulations and applicable OSHA regulations.
Respond to all calls as directed by the dispatcher.
Treat all patients in accordance with New York State Basic Life Support Protocols and applicable regional and local ALS protocols.
Secure pertinent information and records from the transferring facility.
Introduce themselves to the patient and call the patient by proper name.
Tell the patient what is happening and where the patient is going.
Transport all patients on the stretcher and carry them to and from the ambulance.
Carefully monitor all patients during transport and record changes in their condition.
Alter patient care in accordance with changes in the patient's condition.
Take all patients to their assigned room at a medical facility or to their apartment on discharge, never leaving them at the door.
Properly complete the patient care record and all company paperwork, obtaining necessary signatures for billing.
Report with the patient and records to the appropriate person at the receiving facility.
Maintain professional demeanor and courteous interaction with all medical facility staff.
Replace equipment in the ambulance as necessary to maintain compliance with State regulations and policy.
Return the patient compartment to a condition of readiness for the next call.
Notify dispatch of any change in patient’s destination.
Cooperate fully with State EMS inspectors during on-the-spot inspections.
Return the ambulance to the garage, secure it and equipment, replace all supplies used, and report to the supervisor at the end of the tour.
Complete required in-service training.
Maintain state and local certification.
Inventory and service ALS supplies and drugs in accordance with applicable regulations.
Ensure the assigned ambulance is equipped in accordance with applicable regulations.
Perform ALS patient care in accordance with regional and state protocols.
Record patient care on proper forms.
