About The Position

Inova Franconia Springfield Healthplex is looking for a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician 2 to join the Emergency Department team. This is a PRN, As needed position with varying shifts. Requirements

• 1 year of EMT-B experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS from American Heart Association
• EMT-B; must either be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/Certification
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Computer skills.
• Must be available for six (6) weeks of paid training, consisting of virtual modules, classroom-style sessions (8AM – 4:30PM), and on-unit training with department hired into (times TBD).

Responsibilities

• Provides accurate documentation of all procedures and therapies in patients' medical records and all specimens.
• Assists mid-level providers and physicians with collecting, labeling and transporting irretrievable specimens.
• Cleans and dresses wounds per physician orders and performs surgical preparation of wounds according to protocol and assists with application/removal of sutures.
• Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries and charges.
• Applies orthopedic splinting devices.
• Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
• Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical (per policy of Operating Unit).
• Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.
• Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
