About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on the Children's Transport Unit operates ambulances, including Mobile Intensive Care and Neonatal Units, to transport sick, injured, or convalescent patients to and from the hospital. This role requires knowledge of the region and map reading skills to research destinations. The EMT administers basic life support/first aid to transported patients, including moving them in and out of ambulances and utilizing applicable medical equipment. Responsibilities also include performing basic ambulance maintenance, daily inspections, restocking, and equipment cleaning, with vehicle detailing done weekly. The EMT will also perform clerical duties and other assigned tasks. Communication of medical information during transport, documentation of relevant transport information, and accounting for transport charges are key duties. Adherence to the assigned schedule of duty is mandatory. Maintaining required driver training, certifications, continued education, and hospital requirements is essential. The EMT will also assist Transportation Staff with duties involving the maintenance of ECU Health vehicles.

Requirements

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • High School, equivalent or higher is required.
  • NCOEMS Emergency Medical Technician Certification is required
  • NC Drivers License is required.
  • Minimum 1 year EMT experience

Responsibilities
