About The Position

The Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) is responsible for providing pre-hospital care to patients suffering from illness or injury, under the supervision of an EMS Supervisor/manager or EMS Director. This role involves directing patient care at the basic life support level, catering to patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The EMT is expected to adopt a patient-centered approach to care, demonstrating cooperation, flexibility, and resourcefulness when interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Additionally, the EMT assists in planning, supervising, and evaluating pre-hospital patient care, and coordinates emergency medical care and transportation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - highest completed education
• National Incident Management System (NIMS) 700, 800, 100 & 200 training obtained within 60 days of hire date
• Hazmat Awareness Training obtained within 60 days of hire date
• Current Valid Driver's License
• BLS Certification
• PA EMT Certification obtained within 90 days of hire date
• Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator Certification obtained within 90 days of hire date

• Previous EMT Experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the pre-hospital care of patients requiring care as the result of illness/injury.
• Responsible for the direction of patient care at the basic life support level.
• Delivers care based on patient needs appropriate for the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Demonstrates an interest in a patient centered approach to total pre-hospital care.
• Demonstrates cooperation, flexibility and resourcefulness when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Assisting with planning, supervising and evaluating the pre-hospital care of patients.
• Coordinating emergency medical care and transportation.
