About The Position

Acadian Ambulance Service is offering an opportunity for you to take a step into a new career field. Become an Emergency Medical Responder in just 10 days and get paid while you attend school. Emergency Medical Responder Trainees will attend an Accelerated EMR class Monday – Friday for 10 days. If selected for this training program, you will be considered a full-time Acadian Ambulance Service employee. Class tuition, books, and fees will be paid by Acadian Ambulance in return for your commitment to work as an EMR for Acadian for 1 year after completing the class, and passing the certification exam.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current and valid state-issued driver's license determined by appropriate state requirements (equivalent of a Louisiana Class "D" driver's license).
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and managers.
  • Must possess the ability to write simple correspondence or reports.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and/or managers.
  • Must be able to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.
  • Maintain social, ethical and organizational norms.
  • Maintain good personal motivation; develop a sense of ownership of job tasks and results.
  • Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend an Accelerated EMR class Monday – Friday for 10 days.
  • Work as an EMR for Acadian for 1 year after completing the class.
  • Pass the certification exam.
  • Drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.
