The University of New Mexico Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for on-call intermediate level EMT positions with the Medicine Bow (MEDBOW) program. MEDBOW is a long-standing program within Emergency Medicine that provides contracted emergency medical services at events across New Mexico, supporting community safety through professional pre-hospital care. Under general supervision, intermediate level EMTs provide medical care within the scope of their certification at a variety of public and private events. Responsibilities include patient assessment, basic life support, emergency response, documentation, and coordination with other medical personnel and event staff. This is an on-call position with variable scheduling based on event needs. The preferred candidate will demonstrate reliability and flexibility, with an expectation to sign up for and work an average of three (3) shifts per month, and approximately five (5) shifts during the month of September, which is typically a high-demand period. Ideal candidates will have prior EMS experience in a field (“street”) or hospital-based setting and be comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments. While applications received by the best consideration date will be given priority, we will continue to accept applications until the positions are filled. If this posting is still visible, the department is actively accepting applications and continues to seek candidates to fill multiple vacancies.
