This role is primarily responsible for facilitating emergency preparedness trainings, supporting the planning and execution of exercises, and assisting with the management and maintenance of EM+ER equipment and inventory. The specialist will also support emergency response activities and may assist with plan development and other departmental initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in health or in a related field a healthcare administration, emergency management, occupational health and safety, or another appropriate discipline or the equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional level emergency management or related experience in field such as emergency management, public health, hospital administration, emergency services, or teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Able to interact with personnel at various levels.
  • Able to work under tight and changing deadlines.
  • Training experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret data.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree completed or in progress in healthcare administration, emergency management, public health, occupational health & safety or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest or academic focus in emergency preparedness, healthcare operations, or disaster response.
  • Experience supporting trainings, exercises, preparedness programs or emergency response activities (academic, internship, volunteer, or professional experience considered).
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate emergency preparedness trainings, orientations, and educational sessions for staff across the enterprise
  • Support the coordination, planning, and execution of emergency management drills and exercises
  • Maintain, track, and organize emergency management equipment, supplies, and operational inventory
  • Assist with preparation of training materials, exercise documentation, and after-action reports
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with staff, managers, departments, and facilities across the enterprise
  • Support review and updates of emergency operations plans, business continuity plans, and response procedures as assigned
  • Assist with development of operational plans, job action sheets, and supporting documentation when needed
  • Serve in a supporting emergency management role during incidents, emergencies, and disasters
  • Be available to work off-hours (nights/weekends) when supporting scheduled trainings, exercises or emergency response activities
  • Liaise with internal departments and external partners as directed
  • Support departmental preparedness initiatives and special projects as assigned
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and administrative preparedness activities
