About The Position

This internship focuses on assisting with the review and enhancement of the Emergency Management Program across Cape Cod Healthcare. The intern will play a role in ensuring the healthcare system's readiness for emergencies, including participation in preparedness drills and updates to essential policies and procedures. This position requires attention to detail in managing documentation related to security, fire safety, and emergency operations, as well as ensuring the availability and functionality of emergency equipment. The role also involves supporting the coordination of disaster drills and staff training. A strong commitment to service excellence and the CARES values (compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service) is expected.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in Excel as well as other MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to follow all instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Work or volunteer experience in Emergency Response preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review of the Emergency Management Program for all of Cape Cod Healthcare.
  • Ensure the healthcare system is adequately prepared and successfully carries out emergency preparedness drills and preparations as required by state and The Joint Commission.
  • Review and assist with updating required Policies and Procedures in relation to Security, Fire Safety, and Emergency Management, including Management plans, annual reviews, and Emergency Operations Plans.
  • Ensure that emergency preparedness equipment and supplies are available and in good working order and recommend purchase of supplies/equipment as necessary.
  • Assist with the creation and coordination of disaster drills, staff training on emergency preparedness, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide assistance with other Emergency Management related duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Cape Cod Healthcare’s commitment to CARES.
