Ensures general patient satisfaction by providing comfort measures, education, and updates on treatment status. Performs various clinical procedures including peripheral IV placement, specimen collection, urinary catheterization, and splinting. Responsible for wound care, eye irrigation, taking vital signs, and performing EKGs and other point-of-care testing. Transports patients, assists in acute and code situations, and functions as a member of the Code Blue disaster team. Collaborates with the healthcare team in triaging, staging, and treating patients, and assists with patient flow during busy periods. Monitors stock and supplies, maintains infection control standards, and performs clerical duties such as answering phones and entering physician orders. Facilitates diagnostic studies and may obtain medical records from other hospitals.
