About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Emergency Department Technician II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is part of the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and is an Employee, Regular, Health-21 position with a pay rate type of Hourly. The scheduled weekly hours are 24, with work shifts typically being 12-hour day shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • At least one of the following must be met: At least 1 year in a .6 FTE ED Technician I position at MUSC, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Experience in a military medical occupation, At least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience, A college degree, Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution, Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required and must be maintained.
