About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician I functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role performs basic patient care procedures to support patients’ care, comfort, and safety. Duties include taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, collecting specimens, performing ECGs, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observing patients for physical or emotional changes. The technician also records pertinent information in patient charts and communicates with other patient care team members to support continuity of care. This is an hourly position with expected pay of $21.45–$25.70 per hour. Actual pay is determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Work, or EMT-B license in the State of Illinois.

Nice To Haves

Six or more months of experience in a clinical healthcare environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through computer messaging.
Six or more months of experience supporting patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.

Responsibilities
