About The Position

The Trauma Registrar supports the trauma program through specialized trauma registry coding and collaboration with the department. The role is based in Kansas City, Kansas, with a two-day orientation at TUKHS during the first week (Monday and Tuesday), after which work will be fully remote. The assignment is 13 weeks, with a possible temp-to-perm opportunity for local candidates.

The scheduled workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The department emphasizes collaboration, accountability, integrity, adaptability, and a shared commitment to excellence in patient care and program performance. The current EMR is EPIC. The facility is nicotine-free.

Requirements

• At least one year of trauma experience.
• Five years of ICD-10 coding experience is listed as an experience requirement.
• AIS-15 coding certificate required; AIS-15 knowledge and experience are required.
• Experience with NTB.
• Current knowledge of American College of Surgeons criteria for trauma registrars.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and AIS-15 coding is specifically sought; the posting notes candidates may be considered even without five years of trauma registry experience.
• New graduates are not accepted.
