About The Position

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks an overnight emergency radiologist to join our growing academic Emergency Radiology Division. This position offers a highly desirable 7 on / 21 off schedule, focused overnight clinical practice, and a robust academic environment within a large tertiary care system. This role includes interpretation of emergency imaging, including CT, radiographs, ultrasound, and MRI, in a high-acuity setting. Inpatient responsibilities are minimal, supporting a streamlined overnight workflow. Fluoroscopy and nuclear medicine studies are rare. MRI interpretation is tailored to experience level, with the option for preliminary or final reads. The practice environment is an established and growing department with collaborative, supportive colleagues at a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with approximately 230,000 annual ED visits. The Emergency Radiology Division consists of approximately 17 faculty within a ~90-radiologist academic group. There is an active training environment with 24 residents and 12 fellows.

Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Must hold MD or DO degree.
  • Qualify for a Massachusetts license.

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship training in Emergency Radiology is preferred but not required.
  • MRI interpretation tailored to experience level, with the option for preliminary or final reads.

Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of emergency imaging, including CT, radiographs, ultrasound, and MRI, in a high-acuity setting.
  • Minimal inpatient responsibilities.
  • On-site coverage at University Hospital.
  • Direct collaboration with in-house radiology residents overnight.
  • Predominantly level I trauma ED-focused case mix with limited inpatient cross-coverage (occasional wet reads).
  • Teaching during overnight shifts and formal didactic opportunities.
