About The Position

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with Indian Health Services (IHS), is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Physician (MD/DO) for a 1099 contract assignment at Hopi Health Care Center. This opportunity is ideal for a physician who enjoys providing high-quality emergency care while working in a collaborative healthcare environment. The role is fully onsite in Polacca, Arizona, with 12-hour shifts and the possibility of full-time hours for a contract length of up to one year with extension options. The facility is the Hopi Health Care Center.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Valid medical license from any U.S. state accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room experience
  • Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients
  • Current DEA registration
  • Active ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • 2 years of ED experience as a Physician, post residency required

Nice To Haves

  • Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine
  • Prior locum tenens and/or IHS experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of conditions and acuity levels.
  • Perform patient evaluations, diagnose medical conditions, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Manage emergency department patients from initial assessment through disposition.
  • Stabilize patients experiencing acute illness or injury.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, laboratory results, and imaging studies.
  • Provide patient and family communication regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
