About The Position

Sentara Emergency Department is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT). This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working the Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support admissions and discharges, and comply with patient safety practices. PCTs observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.

Requirements

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
  • Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
  • Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
  • Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
  • Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
  • AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire

  • One year of health care experience preferred
