About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency department of a critical access hospital in Port Lavaca, Texas. The role is a 13-week contract with a night shift schedule of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The ideal candidate has strong emergency nursing skills, responds quickly to critical situations, and has experience caring for patients with a variety of acute medical conditions.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced emergency care environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous emergency department nursing experience.
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and monitor patients presenting to the emergency department.
• Provide emergency nursing care to patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions and promptly identify changes requiring immediate intervention.
• Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with emergency procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure timely, safe, and effective patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention protocols.
