About The Position

Seeking Charge Nurse! Baptist Health Floyd, Emergency Department Full-Time (36 hours/week), Nights (7P-7A) Benefit Eligible. Responsible for acting as a resource nurse for the department. This is an entry-level leadership position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts. He/she will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in patient care. This position will work alongside the team and provide direct patient care while determining needed staffing fluctuations during shifts, responding to departmental concerns, address immediate staff issues and coordinate patient flow. This position has immediate oversight of employees while performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads. The Emergency Department (ED) has 41 beds divided between two pods with 37 private rooms. A split-flow area is located near main triage and provides care to lower acuity patients. Split flow varies from 5-8 patients and is run by 1-2 nurses and a mid-level provider. This fast-paced ED treats an average of 160+ patients per day. ED staff encounter a wide variety of patients including acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The ED is recognized by the American Heart Association as both a STEMI receiving center and a designated Primary Stroke Center. New Graduate RNs are welcome.

Requirements

  • Current Indiana or compact state RN license, or graduate of approved nursing program
  • BLS for healthcare provider required.
  • ACLS certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
  • PALS certification required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
  • NIHSS certification required (obtained within 10 weeks of hire).
  • One year of nursing experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.
