Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the practice is located.
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role.
  • Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program.
  • VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia.
  • Experience in emergency or specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Treat every patient and person with importance, ensuring people and pets stay together through tests and treatments.
  • Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support during critical moments, from triage to discharge.
  • Administer medications, monitoring, and advanced treatments such as IVs, CRIs, and blood transfusions.
  • Communicate effectively as a team member and think critically to help shape care plans and ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform CPR, utilizing training and expertise as a RECOVER CPR professional.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement.
  • Administer anesthesia, even for fragile patients.
  • Utilize advanced techniques including central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
