About The Position

A public safety emergency communications organization in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Emergency Communications Trainer to support onboarding, continuing education, and professional development for 911 call center staff. This role ensures personnel are prepared to perform effectively through structured training programs and performance monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an emergency communications operator in a 911 call center
  • Knowledge of 9-1-1 dispatching systems, procedures, and communications equipment
  • Understanding of FCC regulations related to emergency communications
  • Familiarity with modern training methodologies and instructional design
  • Knowledge of best practices in emergency communications training and staff development
  • Ability to design and deliver effective training programs
  • Experience training on E-911 systems , CAD , criminal information networks, and phone systems
  • Strong written communication skills for developing policies, SOPs, and training materials
  • Ability to multitask and respond effectively to changing operational needs

Responsibilities

  • Deliver new-hire training and ongoing education for emergency communications personnel
  • Develop and implement training curricula for new and experienced staff
  • Monitor trainee performance and readiness for independent duty
  • Coordinate training schedules, assignments, and instructional activities
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend enhancements
  • Ensure training content aligns with operational standards and policies
