The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) is responsible for providing quality patient care within the scope defined by the Nurse Practice Act and Trinity Competency Program. The ECT contributes to the design and implementation of improved processes to achieve quality and excellent patient care and service. This role involves direct patient care activities, including performing electrocardiograms, drawing blood specimens, preparing the unit and patient treatment area, assisting with patient dispositions, distributing nutrition trays, and actively participating in quality improvement initiatives. The ECT also inspects patient rooms for cleanliness, assists RNs in patient care, and responds to emergency plans as directed. Customer satisfaction is a key focus, requiring the ECT to maintain positive relationships, serve as a patient advocate, and resolve concerns immediately. The position also contributes to innovation efforts, fosters a positive organizational climate, and participates in productivity and cost containment initiatives. Professional growth is encouraged through self-assessment of learning needs and participation in training and development. The ECT must maintain required certifications and competencies, and may be asked to train new associates.
