About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital offers an Emergency Veterinarian mentorship training program called EmERge, designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to become successful Emergency Veterinarians in their state-of-the-art hospitals through one-on-one guided mentorship. The program provides valuable experience by combining case-based lectures, interactive seminars, hands-on practice labs, and mentoring from highly skilled emergency clinicians. Participants receive a real-world salary from the first day. EmERge is a one-year training program, followed by a one-year post-EmERge commitment. The program is divided into three phases: Phase 1 (Weeks 1-14) includes a bootcamp (virtual and in-person), specialty rotations, and ER shifts. Phase 2 (Weeks 15-32) involves increased responsibility, focused ER shifts, ongoing mentorship, exposure to diverse cases, and weekly didactic webinars. Phase 3 (Weeks 33-52) emphasizes independent case management, continued collaboration, advanced skill application, and ongoing didactic webinars, with continued mentor support.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary school or have the ECFVG certification
Must have passed (or pending) the NAVLE
Must have (or be eligible for) a license to practice in the state of interest

Responsibilities

Apply training in a real-world setting under the mentorship of experienced emergency clinicians
Transition to managing more complex cases with greater independence
Work full shifts in the ER, continuing to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment
Handle a variety of emergency cases to broaden expertise and build confidence in emergency medicine
Participate in a weekly webinar series designed to enhance learning and stay updated on the latest practices in emergency veterinary medicine
Take on full responsibility for managing emergency cases, showcasing confidence and competence in clinical decision-making
Work alongside the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care while honing leadership and communication skills
Apply advanced diagnostic and procedural skills gained throughout the program to handle high-acuity cases
