The Embedded Systems Software role is part of the Edge Systems Team, which develops hardware and software for equipment installed at fish farms worldwide. The company builds underwater cameras and sensors that help salmon farmers understand fish populations, monitor fish health and make environmentally sound decisions. The product combines on-site image-capture hardware, cloud data-processing pipelines and a user-facing web application. The edge team aims to make its devices autonomous, reliable, bandwidth-light, long-lasting, robust, remotely debuggable, fail-safe and easy to deploy. The team develops software and procedures for camera quality testing, sensor calibration and verification, and stereo-camera calibration. It also creates wireless diagnostic and configuration tools that let field technicians use phones to interface with equipment, and designs farm network infrastructure, including cellular backup and device mesh networking. The role also supports moving machine-learning algorithms from the cloud to edge devices, maintaining the Linux build process, and safely deploying software to field hardware. It is based out of the Bay Area office, has a flexible and hybrid work policy, and involves potential travel to Norway and Chile.
