About The Position

As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will design and develop the embedded hardware and software that powers Vale’s automated systems, bridging the gap between silicon and the application layer. This role involves designing and implementing embedded hardware and software co-development for Vale’s devices, developing BSPs and firmware for custom hardware platforms, and optimizing embedded systems for power consumption, memory footprint, and real-time performance. You will also integrate wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, or cellular) into Vale’s devices, collaborate on schematic review and PCB bring-up with Electrical Engineering, write comprehensive tests for embedded systems from unit to system level, and document embedded system architecture, APIs, and configuration.

Requirements

Legally authorized to work in the United States
4+ years of embedded systems development experience
Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with both bare-metal and RTOS-based environments
Experience with wireless connectivity protocols and IoT architectures
Ability to read schematics and comfort working closely with hardware engineers during bring-up

Nice To Haves

Experience with Linux-based embedded systems (Yocto, Buildroot)
