About The Position

Blissway is a startup focused on simplifying toll collection and improving highway safety through advancements in Deep Tech, AI/ML, Hardware, SaaS, and IoT. The company has established a significant technological lead in the tolling industry. The team operates with a lean but growing group of less than 30 employees, with a visible impact on the Interstate Highway System. The ideal candidate embraces challenges, is detail-oriented, adaptable, and a fast learner. The mission of this role is to ensure the 99.9% reliability of roadside systems, including solar power generation, cell connectivity, and high-speed sensors, in harsh environments. This involves hardening the system's reliability, end-to-end hardware design (schematics, PCBs, housing, cabling), improving manufacturing processes through CAD iterations, and developing edge software that bridges the gap between physical sensor limitations and software requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to take ownership and put in the time to meet deadlines (average 55 hours/week, occasional 70+ hour bursts).
  • Experience writing code that stands up to the unpredictability of the physical world.
  • Adaptability and willingness to help other teams when needed.
  • Ability to figure out what is needed to get tasks done.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and fast learning.
  • Skills that transfer well include: Python, TypeScript, C/C++, Altium, Onshape, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Linux, IoT Edge Devices, AWS, Edge Computer Vision, CAD, weatherproofing, outdoor deployment, vertical product integration.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring roadside systems operate with 99.9% reliability in the harshest environments.
  • Deep-diving into the reliability of power systems and connectivity.
  • Owning the development of schematics, PCBs, housing, and cabling solutions for next-generation hardware.
  • Leading design iterations in CAD to improve assembly yield and long-term serviceability of devices.
  • Writing code that lives on the edge, understanding the friction between a sensor's physical limitations and software requirements.
