About The Position

Radiance Technologies is seeking talented scientists and engineers for its Microelectronics Technology Operation (MTO). MTO focuses on custom electronics development, microelectronics, and systems security. The role involves developing and analyzing protective technology capabilities and products for the Department of War, covering areas from secure microelectronics packaging to board-level electronics and system-level security for weapons systems. The Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer will work across all design and development stages for electronics subsystems using various processors, SoCs, GPUs, FPGAs, and ASICs. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both embedded software and Hardware Description Languages (HDL), with experience in turning up custom embedded hardware prototypes and maturing them into deployable solutions. The position requires working effectively in small, fast-paced, mission-driven teams. Multiple seniority levels will be considered.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • 8+ years direct experience developing embedded systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Embedded Debugging / Emulation Experience.
  • Experience developing for real-time OS, embedded Linux, and / or bare metal.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Advanced or Expert level C programmer.
  • Experience with FPGA: VHDL and / or Verilog.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • 20+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated expertise as technical lead / architect for embedded projects.
  • Experience with system security architectures, cryptography implementation, roots of security, and / or secure boot.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - propose new ideas, processes, tools and solutions.
  • Excel at verbal and written communication with customers and team members by providing reports, technical documentation, and guidance.
  • Proficiency and willingness to mentor junior technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Work across all design and development stages, from ideation to formal production acceptance testing for electronics subsystems.
  • Develop embedded software and utilize Hardware Description Languages (HDL).
  • Collaborate with hardware design engineers to turn up custom embedded hardware prototype designs.
  • Mature prototypes into deployable solutions.
  • Work as part of small, fast-paced, and mission-driven teams.
  • Design, simulate, synthesize, and test IP for ASIC and FPGA projects.
  • Author software development plans.
  • Mentor junior technical personnel.
