About The Position

Johnson Controls is developing the next generation of smart and connected Building Technologies, including tailored, AI-infused service solutions such as remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, compliance monitoring, and advanced risk assessments. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of embedded software that connects our various building devices and the people who use them. You will play a key role in digitizing our products to enhance both our environment and user experience. The Embedded Software Engineer will be exposed to state-of-the-art approaches and subject matter including interface design, machine learning, cyber security, and IoT devices. You will be involved at the system level, exposed to hardware, and down to applications. Our Software Development team is highly collaborative, feedback oriented, and entrepreneurial in nature. Candidates must be commuting distance to New Freedom, PA, or able to relocate. Various relocation packages are available. Candidates must be a US citizen and/or permanent resident. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 2 years in a system design role.
  • Technical expertise in software architecture and design; knowledge of complex software systems and UI development
  • Software design and programming skills in C/C++.
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
  • Commuting distance to New Freedom, PA, or able to relocate.

Responsibilities

  • Help provide technical guidance and support for our developing architectural design partitioning engineering strategies that align with our technology and platform roadmaps.
  • Participate in cross functional (software, firmware, controls, hardware, applications) teams to facilitate tight and coherent integration of these subsystems.
  • Design and implement secure embedded software solutions for equipment controls.
  • Participate in the full range of SDLC including specifications, design documents, software functional specifications, prototyping, and implementation.
  • Influence approaches and processes for software development with a process improvement mindset.
  • Utilize the latest technologies available to develop user interface and advanced featured driving best in class intelligent products.
