About The Position

Moog Space and Defense Group is seeking an Embedded Software Design Engineer to join their team in Johnson City, Tennessee. This role involves designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating embedded software and firmware for the military and aerospace markets. The engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining embedded Linux board support packages (BSP), bootloaders, kernels, package management, and system/application configurations. They will also develop and maintain shell scripts, Python scripts, and C/C++ code for system configuration, automation, and application development. The position requires collaboration with internal teams to resolve software and system issues, creating version description documents and software releases, and performing code maintenance including debugging and updating.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or closely related technical field
  • Proficient in C/C++, bash, and python scripting languages.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of embedded software engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience with HDL/RTL for FPGA design, testbench development, and simulation is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate embedded software and firmware designs for the military and aerospace markets.
  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux board support packages (BSP), as well as bootloader, kernel, package management, and system/application configurations.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts, Python scripts, and C/C++ code for system configuration, automation, and application development.
  • Work with internal team members to solve software and system issues
  • Create version description documents and software releases according to established procedures.
  • Perform code maintenance including debugging and updating to keep pace within a fast paced and evolving design environment.
