About The Position

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a software engineer to analyze, design, develop, debug, and modify embedded control software for commercial aerospace electronics used in harsh and hazardous environments. Applications include controllers, three-phase active rectifiers with power-factor correction (PFC), motor control, DC-DC converters, and AC drives. The engineer will own or support technical teams and projects involving W&W System Components, working across internal and external groups to deliver robust, airworthy designs that meet budget, schedule, customer, and internal requirements. The role also involves leading or participating in group- and company-level improvement activities. The engineer develops control algorithms, software and interface requirements, subsystem designs, verification plans, design documentation, and test procedures and reports. Work includes software and product testing, debugging and performance analysis, supplier and OEM engagement, design reviews, and support for feasibility, development, validation, verification, and qualification testing. The position also performs RTCA/DO-178 process tasks and prepares related certification documents, supports engineering changes for water and waste systems and equipment, and promotes adherence to applicable airworthiness, customer, and company standards. ALTEN Technology USA is part of the global ALTEN Group. The company describes a culture focused on mentorship, career growth, and comprehensive benefits; specific benefits are not listed in this posting.

  • Test and debug power-electronics controllers, including source- and assembly-level debugging.
  • Optimize software performance in coordination with control-system engineers.
  • Work with suppliers to review control-software design.
  • Lead or support software design reviews and interface with vendors, customers, and other departments on technical issues.
  • Own small- or medium-sized software development efforts independently or lead a team.
  • Review, check, and approve peers’ and lower-level engineers’ work; provide guidance and training.
  • Assess standard work and support or lead improvement projects.
  • Analyze customer requirements and validate them through analysis, modeling, prototyping, or existing product performance.
  • Create software requirements specifications and hardware/software interface control documents.
  • Create verification plans to validate product compliance with requirements.
  • Interface independently with technical analysts to define software design and with existing or new suppliers and OEMs.
  • Create design tools to define product design, capture lessons learned, and improve the rotating-equipment development process.
  • Create software design documents covering design analysis, notes, and applicable guidelines.
  • Create design verification test procedures and reports (DVTP and DVTR).
  • Perform product-performance testing and analysis, confirm requirements are met, and generate test reports.
  • Research and develop solutions to problems using resourcefulness and creativity.
  • Support feasibility, development, validation, verification, and qualification testing at Monogram and external test laboratories.
  • Apply technical problem-solving to support ongoing projects and ensure designs meet airworthiness standards, customer requirements, and internal standards.
  • Critically review and present findings and trade studies; provide input to program and project managers.
  • Perform RTCA/DO-178 process tasks and generate PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, SQAP, SCI, and SAS documents.
  • Understand, follow, and promote company policies and procedures.
  • Process engineering changes in the development of water and waste systems and equipment.
  • Document findings and trade studies.
