About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Embedded Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Reporting to the Manager of Embedded Software, you will develop embedded software, firmware and signal processing algorithms for advanced sensor systems operating in demanding environments. Working closely with hardware, mechanical, software, and test engineers, you will design, implement, and optimize real-time embedded software, digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, and system-level functionality from concept through production.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture.
  • Familiarity with floating-point and fixed-point DSP implementations.
  • Knowledge of FFTs, digital filtering, spectral analysis, adaptive filtering, and time-frequency analysis.
  • Strong debugging skills using JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certificate/Degree in Business Administration.
  • 1+ years of experience in a sales support/administrative role.
  • Experience in discipline ownership of projects from concept to production, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Professional Engineer in good standing, or eligible for a license to practice engineering in Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers and embedded systems.
  • Develop real-time software for sensor acquisition, digital signal processing (DSP), communications, and system control.
  • Design and optimize algorithms for signal processing, detection, classification, filtering, feature extraction, and spectral analysis.
  • Optimize embedded software for performance, memory efficiency, and low-power operation.
  • Integrate and support hardware interfaces, peripherals, and wireless communication technologies, including GNSS, satellite, Bluetooth, SPI, I²C, UART, USB, Ethernet, CAN, and ADC/DAC.
  • Develop embedded data logging, diagnostics, health monitoring, and automated test utilities.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up, hardware verification, and hardware/software integration.
  • Support system verification, validation, production testing, and troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
  • Participate in system architecture, design reviews, technical planning, and continuous improvement of software development practices.
  • Analyze field performance data and implement software enhancements to improve product reliability and functionality.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
