About The Position

The specialist embedded firmware engineer designs, develops, and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating systems and waveform software. Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle.

Requirements

  • Proficient with C/C++ and object-oriented design
  • Familiarity with real time and multi-threaded software design
  • Familiar with Windows and with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)
  • Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
  • Must be able to obtain a US security clearance
  • Bachelors degree (Computer / Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent) and 4 years of prior related experience, or graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

  • Experience with the Agile development methodology
  • Familiarity with RF concepts and technology
  • Experience with wireless networking software system design and development

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating systems and waveform software.
  • Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.
  • Participates in all phases of the software development life cycle.
  • Develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation.
  • Identify, track, and repair software defects.
