About The Position

The Embedded Software Engineer will be self-motivated, willing to learn, and responsible for delivering firmware for Bare Metal and RTOS microcontroller systems, as well as high-quality code and documentation. They will create tests and reports, analyze hardware and firmware problems, and assist customer support. Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with 8051, ARM, and/or PIC microcontrollers. This includes using hardware emulators and JTAG debuggers.
  • Write desktop applications using Python or a similar language.
  • Hands on experience with instrument communication busses including RS‑232, RS‑485, USB, Ethernet, and IEEE-488.
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuits and able to read schematics.
  • Experience using test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • National Instrument LabView knowledge and job-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Write desktop applications using languages including C++, C# and LabView.
  • Experience with DeviceNet and/or EtherCAT is a plus.
  • Experience with Ethernet protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, and SNMP. Wireshark experience is very desirable.
  • Experience using instrumentation drivers such as Windows sockets and serial ports, VISA and VXI-11.
  • Experience with Keil compiler C51 and/or the STM32cube IDE.
  • Familiarity with the standards set by the LXI Consortium for LAN instruments.
  • Use version control software such as GIT.

Responsibilities

  • Must be self-motivated, willing to learn, and be responsible for delivering firmware for Bare Metal and RTOS microcontroller systems.
  • Deliver high-quality code and documentation. Experience writing product specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
  • Create tests and reports to evaluate product designs and behaviors. May need to write automated test programs.
  • Analyze hardware and firmware problems during development and in production, and recommend solutions.
  • Help customer support resolve technical issues as needed.
  • Be able to follow procedures and work safely around kilo-volt devices.
