About The Position

Revel is an early-stage software company building modern infrastructure for hardware. Founded by former SpaceX engineers, including a CEO who spent nearly a decade building command-and-control systems for Falcon 9 and Starship, Revel was created to replace the outdated and complex software still used across critical hardware industries. Revel’s platform makes it easy for engineering teams to connect to hardware, collect data, and command and control physical systems—turning work that traditionally takes months into days or even hours. Born in aerospace, Revel is rapidly expanding into energy, nuclear, manufacturing, automotive, data centers, and other industries where hardware is controlled by software. Less than two years after founding, Revel has grown to ~50 employees, achieved over 90% pilot-to-partnership conversion, and raised a $150M Series B from leading investors including Index Ventures, Thrive Capital, and Redpoint.

Requirements

  • Hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and solving challenging systems-level problems.
  • Thrive in high-ownership environments and are comfortable taking ambiguous problems from idea to implementation with minimal direction.
  • Enjoy building things from first principles rather than simply integrating existing libraries and tools.
  • Excited by performance optimization, hardware bring-up, networking, drivers, and understanding how systems work at a fundamental level.
  • Want to work on software that interacts with real-world, safety-critical hardware across industries like aerospace, energy, automotive, and manufacturing.
  • Enjoy working on a small, highly technical team where individual engineers can have a significant impact on the product.
  • Strong programming experience in C, C++, and/or Rust.
  • Experience implementing drivers, networking protocols, or low-level systems software from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, computer architecture, networking, and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience debugging complex issues across the hardware/software boundary.
  • Experience developing or optimizing high-performance and/or safety-critical systems.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industrial hardware such as PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, or data acquisition systems is a plus.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, energy, manufacturing, robotics, or another hardware-intensive environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the software layer connecting Revel’s runtime to industrial hardware, including PLCs, specialized instrumentation, and other embedded systems.
  • Design and implement low-level drivers and libraries from the ground up, rather than relying solely on existing frameworks.
  • Perform board bring-up and integrate new hardware and compute platforms into Revel’s ecosystem.
  • Develop high-performance, reliable software for safety-critical systems across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing applications.
  • Partner directly with customers and hardware vendors to bring test systems online and troubleshoot complex hardware/software interactions.
  • Identify and implement system-level performance improvements across compute, networking, and hardware interfaces.
  • Work across a broad range of hardware and occasionally contribute to telemetry and data acquisition systems.
  • Own technical problems end-to-end, from initial investigation and architecture through implementation, testing, and deployment.
