About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team in Owego, NY. This role will support the full product lifecycle of avionics subsystems, translating customer requirements into technical solutions, defining software/hardware interfaces, verifying requirements, and integrating safety-critical systems. The position focuses on the design and certification of embedded mission software for modern defense platforms. The work involves developing embedded software for mission and communication systems, collaborating across engineering disciplines to develop C/C++ and Python applications, integrating algorithms, and supporting verification and testing. The engineer will also participate in team planning and contribute to meeting technical performance, schedule, and cost commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent STEM field
  • 3+ years related professional experience
  • Experience using C, C++ or similar programming languages
  • Experience with full software life-cycle development, processes and tools
  • Experience with Git/GitLab, Visual Studio, and Atlassian products
  • Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading and executing on engineering intensive programs.
  • Solid foundational understanding of Agile, DevSecOps and Digital Transformation (Dx).
  • Strong and proven understanding of engineering development processes.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Active Secret Level security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Experience with agile software development lifecycle and work product releases
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Experience in Product Line development.
  • Understanding of all phases of the engineering development process.
  • Experience with engineering control board (ECB) and change control board (CCB) processes
  • Experience with configuration management of engineering work products
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across organizations to achieve results.
  • Experience in a lead role on development programs.
  • Agile coaching experience and/or Agile certifications (e.g. Product Owner, Scrum Master, SAFe, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Embedded software development
