About The Position
The Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) business develops technologies that help clinicians monitor, assess, and manage patients across the continuum of care. This role supports ACM’s airway management portfolio, a product area focused on technologies used in acute care environments including operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency departments. The engineering team partners across software, hardware, mechanical, systems, clinical, and quality functions to develop and sustain medical technologies that improve patient care and clinician workflows. This position is based in Lafayette, Colorado and is an onsite role. Limited travel may be required to support collaboration, testing activities, and business needs. As an Embedded Software Engineer II, you will develop embedded software solutions for medical devices used in airway management applications. This role combines software design, embedded systems development, hardware integration, testing, and technical documentation to support new product development and lifecycle engineering activities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop reliable software that meets product, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and 2+ years of embedded software development experience, or a Master's degree in one of these fields.
- Experience developing embedded software using C and C++.
- Experience with Linux-based embedded systems and driver development or maintenance.
- Experience using version control and configuration management tools.
- Experience debugging hardware-software integration issues and applying information from schematics and technical documentation.
Nice To Haves
- Experience developing real-time software for microprocessor-based systems.
- Experience with Qt, LVGL, or other embedded graphics and user interface frameworks.
- Experience with Python, shell scripting, or test automation tools.
- Experience with communication protocols including USB, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience within regulated product development environments and knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and ISO 13485
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software applications and features using C and C++ for medical device products.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver project objectives.
- Design and implement software architectures, frameworks, and reusable platform components across product lines.
- Integrate software with hardware platforms and troubleshoot issues at the hardware-software interface.
- Create and maintain unit tests, integration tests, automated test scripts, and code review activities.
- Generate software development documentation supporting regulatory and quality system requirements.
- Participate in software verification, validation, and risk management activities.
- Support Agile software development practices, configuration management, and continuous improvement of development processes.
