About The Position

Werfen is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer II to perform software development activities, including design, implementation, and integration. The role develops and maintains firmware for microcontroller-based motion control systems, implementing software on bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded systems. The engineer supports stepper motor control functions, sensor interfaces, and control algorithms, and develops low-level components such as GPIO, timer, and peripheral drivers, interrupt service routines, and basic DMA implementations. The position works closely with hardware engineers on schematic and datasheet interpretation, board bring-up, hardware validation, and embedded peripheral interfaces. It also involves firmware testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, use of embedded debugging equipment, technical documentation, code reviews, and contributing to firmware reliability, maintainability, and performance. The position requires embedded C/C++ programming, familiarity with microcontrollers, RTOS fundamentals, communication protocols, electrical schematics, and debugging tools. Travel is less than 5% of the time; international mobility is not required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree plus at least 4 years of related experience, bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years of related experience, or master's degree plus typically 1 year of related experience; experience-based waiver may be considered.
  • Degree in a technical discipline such as Chemistry, Math, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in programming languages used in product development, such as Assembly, C, C++, Java, or C#.
