About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer – Ada/C++ in Owego, New York for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will design, develop, test, debug, and document embedded software supporting complex mission systems. The engineer will work throughout the software development lifecycle while applying established engineering standards, processes, and tools.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • 2+ years of Ada software development experience.
  • 2+ years of C++ software development experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software.
  • Experience developing software solutions for technical, business, or mission requirements.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and engineering standards.
  • Experience troubleshooting and correcting software defects.
  • Ability to analyze software and system requirements.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical software documentation.
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software interactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative software engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate software development activities.
  • Design and develop embedded software using Ada and C++.
  • Develop software solutions for mission and system requirements.
  • Test and debug software applications and embedded functionality.
  • Troubleshoot software errors and implement corrective changes.
  • Apply established software-development standards, processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Analyze system capabilities, software behavior, and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate input data, output requirements, programming techniques, and software controls.
  • Prepare software operating instructions and technical documentation.
  • Document software development and testing activities.
  • Work with system users and engineering teams to understand software requirements.
  • Ensure developed software meets applicable engineering and quality standards.
