About The Position

Embedded Software Engineer II – Sensors, Space and Air – El Segundo Join the Space and RF Sensors Software team at Raytheon, where we develop cutting-edge software applications focused on solving our customers' toughest defense challenges. In this role, you will be part of an elite software engineering team to design, code, integrate, and test critical real-time embedded software with applications to advanced next generation radar, sensor, guidance, and fire control systems. Operating at the leading edge of technology, you will contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle to deliver innovative solutions that help keep our nation and allies safe. Work Location: Onsite at our El Segundo, CA Campus This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from accredited institution . Degree must be obtained by start
  • Experience developing, and testing or debugging software using C, C++, or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Strong Object-Oriented Design knowledge and real time embedded software development experience
  • Experience in computer scripting languages such as Python/Shell/Perl
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving experience
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Software Development Processes and experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, implementation, and testing
  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach.
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab for repository management.
  • Hands-on experience developing low-level device drivers or real-time embedded operating system (RTOS) applications.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware-software integration and embedded system testing
  • Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
  • Knowledge and practical application of fundamental data structures and algorithms.
  • Practical exposure to radar technologies, radar signal processing, RF or Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Experience with developing and integrating software for Radar systems
  • Real-time, multi-threaded software development experience.
  • Modeling and Simulation knowledge.
  • Experience developing embedded software utilizing ADA, Rust or similar secure programming languages
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and understanding of cybersecurity principles
  • Development experience working on UNIX, Redhat Linux, Windows, VxWorks, Integrity, Green Hills or other Real Time Operating Systems.
  • Experience with optimized CUDA programming for Nvidia accelerators.
  • Prior work in HPC environments.
  • Experience with MATLAB, and other analysis tools
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with a breadth of software tools, such as git, CMake, Eclipse, Atlassian Suite, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Google Test, Qt, etc.
  • Familiarity on any of the following: signal processing, tracker experience, modes development, open architecture, GRA, OMS, UCI background
  • Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Experience developing low-level code for microcontrollers or platforms like Arduino or Raspberry Pi
  • Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms (e.g., AES, RSA, ECC) and their application in software assurance
  • Understanding of anti-tamper techniques and methods for protecting intellectual property and sensitive data
  • Experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, and developing secure software systems
  • Familiarity with static and dynamic code analysis tools, such as Coverity, Fortify, or SonarQube

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions. Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions.
  • Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase
  • Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis
  • Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on RF, radar modes and sensing capabilities.
  • Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers
  • Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines.
  • Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity.
