Role: The embedded software developer is part of an agile development team and is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and documentation of complex flight software modules for various space applications, including communications and satellites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development
  • Experience in networking and communication protocols required
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Programming in C, C++, Python
  • Leadership in an agile environment
  • Experience managing suppliers and subcontracts
  • Experience with satellite platform subsystems (CDH, propulsion, navigation, power management, etc.)
  • Experience with software integration of satellite payload/platform subsystems
  • Experience working with complex SoCs
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience with version control systems such as GIT
  • Very good communication in English or French
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Disciplined and resourceful

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of satellite communication standards such as DVB-S2X
  • Experience in RF systems
  • Knowledge of CCSDS, MIL-STD-1553
  • Knowledge of protocols such as CAN bus and SpaceWire
  • Experience with Visual Studio or Eclipse
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with VectorCast
  • Experience in embedded Linux
  • Experience in formal software development (requirements, design, testing).

Responsibilities

  • Work with an agile team as a technical lead
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (systems, digital, RF) on the architecture and design of software for satellite payload or platform systems.
  • Support the integration of flight code and testing within flight units
  • Refine software requirements for your team or external suppliers
  • Write necessary documentation throughout the software lifecycle
  • Interact with clients and participate in proposals for new projects
  • Liaise between suppliers, the systems team, and the software team for matters related to embedded software for payload/platform systems.
  • Ensure consistency of interface design at the software level between different satellite subsystems
  • Act as a leader in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Implement embedded software (flight code)
