  • Proficiency in C# and at least one additional language commonly used in embedded/tooling contexts (e.g., C/C++, Python)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to analyze and resolve technical issues (build failures, runtime faults, configuration issues, performance)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with embedded developers, controls/model engineers, and verification teams
  • Ability to work in a self-directed mode while managing multiple priorities in a sustain + improve environment

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with plant model development, calibration, and model integration in SIL workflows
  • Significant knowledge and experience in software testing, tools, and processes such as unit testing, HIL, SIL, black box, boundary conditions etc.
  • Experience with Emb32 (or similar embedded targets) and cross-compiling/debugging embedded applications used in simulation or test environments
  • Experience with C/C++, Python, ECU-Test, Squish, Jenkins
  • Experience building developer tools and automation for SIL (e.g., installers, environment setup, test harnesses, log processing, CI integration)
  • Experience with electrical hardware, embedded software, and their interaction with mechanical systems
  • Experience in off-road mobile equipment embedded software or controls development (design, implementation, or verification)
  • Experience with automotive/aviation/off road mobile equipment software or controls development (design or test)
  • Experience improving model fidelity and performance (numerical stability, solver settings, runtime performance, and configuration/version control)
  • Experience with model-based software testing techniques
  • Experience with distributed embedded systems and communication protocols commonly used in mobile equipment (e.g., CAN/J1939, Ethernet-based comms)
  • Experience with distributed control systems and communication protocols
  • Experience collaborating with verification teams to enable automated regression testing in SIL and to interpret results/debug failures

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the embedded SIL environment for Construction & Forestry teams, ensuring reliability, repeatability, and ease of use for developers and test engineers
  • Develop and maintain embedded build and integration workflows (e.g., Emb32) to support fast iteration and consistent SIL execution
  • Develop and maintain plant models and model interfaces used in SIL, improving fidelity, performance, and configuration management
  • Create and enhance SIL tooling and utilities (including C# applications/services) for scenario setup, execution, logging, and results triage
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SIL environment issues across software, models, and configuration (e.g., build breaks, runtime faults, version mismatches, performance regressions)
  • Partner with embedded software teams, PV&V, and systems/controls engineers to define SIL requirements and prioritize environment and model improvements
  • Maintain documentation, onboarding material, and reference examples so teams can adopt SIL efficiently and consistently
  • Implement quality practices for the SIL environment (source control hygiene, automated checks, CI integration, versioning, and release notes)
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders and suppliers as needed to integrate embedded software and models into the SIL environment
  • Support users of the SIL environment by answering questions, unblocking development, and guiding best practices for efficient debugging and verification
  • Integrate embedded applications, controls, and communication interfaces into SIL to enable functional and regression testing without hardware dependency
  • Maintain and improve the SIL runtime stack, configuration packages, and dependencies (installers, environment setup, and version compatibility)
  • Develop diagnostics and automation around SIL execution (batch runs, nightly/regression pipelines, log parsing, and failure classification)
  • Drive continuous improvement by tracking common pain points, reducing setup time, and increasing SIL stability and model fidelity for product teams
