About The Position

Simbex is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop production firmware for next-generation IoT wearable devices. In this role, you will build embedded software for low-power connected systems, integrate sensors and wireless technologies, and collaborate closely with electrical engineers to bring new hardware platforms to life. You'll play a key role in delivering reliable, high-performance firmware for innovative wearable products.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field
  • 3-6 years of embedded firmware development experience
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
  • Experience with an RTOS (Zephyr preferred)
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, USB, GPIO, and embedded peripherals
  • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS
  • Experience with MCUboot or OTA firmware updates
  • Experience integrating IMUs or other motion sensors
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion or embedded signal processing
  • Experience with AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or similar cloud platforms
  • Experience developing battery-powered or wearable IoT devices

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware using C/C++
  • Develop firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers using an RTOS (Zephyr preferred)
  • Implement drivers and interfaces for peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and GPIO
  • Support board bring-up and hardware integration activities
  • Develop Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) applications for device communication and configuration
  • Implement over-the-air (OTA) firmware update capabilities
  • Support cloud connectivity using IoT communication protocols such as MQTT or CoAP
  • Optimize firmware for low-power operation
  • Integrate IMUs and other embedded sensors into production firmware
  • Support sensor fusion and motion-processing algorithms
  • Collaborate with algorithm developers to implement and optimize embedded solutions
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests
  • Troubleshoot firmware and hardware integration issues
  • Contribute to CI/CD workflows and software quality practices
  • Maintain technical documentation and support product verification activities
