About The Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically accomplished Embedded Engineer III to join our battery-electric Class 8 Cascadia (eCascadia) team. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead responsible for the development, integration, and validation of thermal management control systems for the eCascadia platform. You will own thermal controls strategy end-to-end — from algorithm development and model-based design through verification, validation, and release — while partnering across a globally distributed engineering organization to deliver robust, efficient, and production-ready thermal management solutions. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the intersection of vehicle electrification, systems engineering, and embedded software, requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to lead and influence across functions and geo-regions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline and 5-7 years of experience
Demonstrated understanding of relevant physics domains and system behavior, including heat transfer, fluid flow, cooling loops, HVAC and battery thermal interactions.
Proven experience developing production-intent control strategies (control logic, calibration approach, edge-case robustness), preferably using MATLAB toolchain or equivalent model-based tools.
Demonstrated experience executing validation workflows across MiL, SiL, HiL, and vehicle testing, including analysis and issue resolution.
Strong ability to work cross-functionally (thermal hardware, EE, embedded SW, vehicle integration) to ensure system-level performance and compatibility.
Demonstrated leadership abilities—able to guide engineers, lead technical direction, and drive execution across stakeholders.
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with evolving program priorities, technical trade-offs, and cross-functional dependencies.
Strong written and verbal communication; able to present technical tradeoffs, risks, and decisions to diverse audiences.
Strong work ethics, highly motivated, and ability to drive results in a collaborative engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

Direct experience with eCascadia vehicle systems or Class 8 BEV thermal architectures and validation constraints.
Experience coordinating multiple thermal loops (battery loop, power electronics loop, e-powertrain loop, HVAC loop) and optimizing for energy efficiency and drivability constraints - or equivalent.
Experience with production calibration workflows, CAN-based tools and diagnostics ecosystems, and formal requirements/test traceability approaches.
Familiarity with embedded automotive software development environments (e.g., AUTOSAR-based architectures) and interfaces between controls models and production ECUs.
Proven success working in globally distributed teams (e.g., coordinating deliverables across multiple engineering centers) consistent with global coordination expectations.
Track record of mentoring engineers and building sustainable team practices (planning, metrics, review cadence, technical standards).
Experience applying modern engineering tools (automation, data analytics, AI-assisted engineering) to improve development efficiency, validation quality, or requirements traceability.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and validation of thermal management control strategies for battery-electric Class 8 Cascadia (eCascadia) vehicles, overseeing integration of controls for battery thermal, power electronics cooling, e-powertrain thermal loops, and cab HVAC.
Responsible for thermal management controls system-level performance across key operating scenarios (hot/cold ambient, grade, high-load duty cycles, fast charging, idle/soak) and ensure robust operation under real-world customer use.
Drive alignment of thermal controls strategy with vehicle energy/efficiency targets and cross-domain constraints (battery limits, derates, charging, HVAC comfort).
Responsible for verification workflow across MiL, SiL, and HiL, ensuring models, interfaces, and test artifacts are traceable to requirements and support release decisions.
Partner with simulation and plant-model stakeholders to ensure correlation between model predictions and physical results, and to close gaps discovered during SiL/HiL/vehicle testing.
Lead the planning and support execution of eCascadia thermal controls validation, including test strategy, coverage, prioritization, issue triage, and closure to support eCascadia releases.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship for a small team of engineers; define objectives, prioritize work, establish metrics, and ensure quality and timely delivery of thermal controls milestones.
Collaborate effectively across engineering sites and stakeholders, with regular engagement in Portland, Detroit, Stuttgart, and Bangalore engineering groups to ensure execution.
