About The Position

Our client is seeking an Intermediate Embedded Software Developer to join a Board Support Package (BSP) team responsible for developing and maintaining the foundational software layers that enable hardware functionality within a large-scale embedded platform. The team works across a variety of system-level components, including operating system kernel drivers, networking, graphics, USB, Wi-Fi, camera services, and system startup functionality. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a production platform already deployed in market while collaborating with experienced architects and embedded systems specialists. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on embedded software development experience, excellent debugging skills, and a deep understanding of operating systems and hardware-software interactions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ in a production environment.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or testing Board Support Packages (BSP).
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or testing Device Drivers.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or testing Operating System-level software.
  • Strong understanding of Embedded Linux.
  • Strong understanding of Operating System architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Hardware and software interactions.
  • Strong understanding of Embedded system design principles.
  • Proven troubleshooting and debugging experience, including issue reproduction and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as Kernel drivers.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as File systems.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as Networking.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as USB.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as Graphics.
  • Experience working with system-level components such as Wi-Fi services.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with QNX operating systems.
  • Automotive embedded software development experience.
  • Python scripting and automation experience.
  • Familiarity with software quality and coding standards, including MISRA guidelines.
  • Experience using Jira or similar Agile project management tools.
  • Experience with automated testing and acceptance testing.
  • Experience supporting production software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze assigned defects and reported issues.
  • Reproduce software issues in development and test environments.
  • Investigate BSP and OS-level functionality to identify defects and performance issues.
  • Perform log analysis, debugging, and code reviews to determine root causes.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions for identified issues.
  • Collaborate with architects and development teams to validate requirements and implementation approaches.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with SDLC processes.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software code and supporting scripts.
  • Execute unit testing and validate solutions to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback.
  • Support defect verification and regression testing activities.
  • Document findings, recommendations, and technical solutions throughout the development lifecycle.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
