What You’ll Do: As a Paraprofessional in the ELSA program, you are the "glue" of the summer academy. You will support classroom instruction, manage daily operations (arrival, lunch, dismissal), and play a critical role in family communication. You will assist the Site Coordinator in ensuring families stay informed and engaged while helping teachers deliver high-quality, student-centered English Language Development. Total Hours & Schedule (Summer 2026) Pre-Program Planning & Outreach: 15 hours total (Completed in June or earlier). Focus: Family communication, outreach, and attending the staff orientation meeting. Program Duration: 4 Weeks ( July 6th – July 31st, 2026 ). Summer Program Hours: 10 hours per week ( 40 hours total ). Daily Schedule: Monday – Thursday (Specific 2.5-hour daily shift to be coordinated with the Site Coordinator, e.g., 8:00 am – 10:30 am to cover arrival/instruction or 11:30 am – 2:30 pm to cover lunch/transition to camp harbor quest).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Second Language (Spanish) Proficiency is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ELSA teachers to deliver instruction during academic blocks.
  • Lead small-group centers to help students master specific English language skills.
  • Support students in 1:1 or whole-class models to ensure they stay focused and on-task.
  • Assist in implementing accommodations and specialized instructional strategies.
  • Provide coverage where needed - classroom, lunchroom, recess, etc.
  • Assist the Site Coordinator with family outreach and maintaining open lines of communication with multilingual households.
  • Monitor students during arrival, breakfast, recess, lunch, and dismissal.
  • Assist staff in monitoring students during field trips and escorting students safely throughout the building or on/off buses.
  • Facilitate social interactions and model language use between peers; assist with classroom management under the direction of the lead teacher.
