What You’ll Do: As the ELSA Program Coordinator, you are responsible for the successful implementation of the Multilingual Learner Summer Academy. Your role spans from early family outreach and enrollment to the daily operational management of the site at Horace Mann. You will serve as the primary bridge between families, transportation, and instructional staff. Total Hours & Schedule (Summer 2026) Pre-Program Planning & Orientation: 15 hours (To be completed in June or earlier for program setup and staff orientation). Program Duration: 4 Weeks ( July 6th – July 31st, 2026 ). Weekly Commitment: 20 hours per week (80 hours total for the 4-week session). Program Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Prep/Admin Time: Monday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in ESL (PreK-6 or 5-12).
  • Endorsement: Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement required.
  • Skills: Ability to meet Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice.
  • Authorization: Current authorization to work in the United States.

  • Language: Spanish proficiency is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination & Operations Outreach & Enrollment: Create and disseminate information to families to ensure the enrollment of approximately 40 multilingual learners.
  • Logistics: Organize bus transportation in coordination with families; secure and organize classrooms at Horace Mann .
  • Scheduling: Develop the daily program schedule for all classes and activities.
  • Staff Support: Lead staff orientation; communicate regularly with ELSA teachers regarding program needs, supplies, and student progress.
  • Instructional Leadership: Lead staff in administering pre/post student assessments that measure the growth attained during the program. Collect and analyze data to improve instruction and the quality of the program.
  • Day-to-Day Oversight: Manage student discipline, family communication, and field trip organization.
  • Relational & Professional Leadership Build authentic, caring relationships with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Maintain high expectations for achievement while providing the necessary support for multilingual learners to meet those bars.
  • Serve as a reflective practitioner, embracing feedback and modeling a growth mindset.
