About The Position

This position will directly support teachers and ELL students to help build confidence and help students gain the skills needed for academic success. The ELL Interventionist monitors students’ progress, identifies specific academic issues, and provides feedback to the teacher and student based on observation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • MS teacher license with endorsement 119-English, 120-Elementary Education, or 177-English as a Second Language.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ELL students.
  • Knowledgeable in language acquisition and experience using a variety of teaching methods and materials.
  • Able to exhibit patience and understanding of cultural differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all staff members to plan and implement appropriate instructional interventions.
  • Knowledge of analyzing data as the basis for instructional decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills in scheduling interventions, tracking individual student progress, teacher and parent meetings, and data application.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and implements a systematic process of ELL instructional interventions that complies with the required three tier system
  • Assists teacher support groups in analyzing student work and helps coordinate the implementation of appropriate ELL intervention strategies to maximize student learning.
  • Participates as a member of the district intervention team in implementing a system of universal screening in reading and mathematics for ELL students.
  • Attends Teacher Support Team meetings at each school
  • Assists principals and staff members in analyzing data as the basis of prescriptive interventions and the application of differentiated instructional strategies
  • Accurately records and tracks student intervention data to monitor student progress.
  • Ensures that interventions in the assigned school are carried out with fidelity as prescribed.
  • Encourages parental and community involvement by educating parents and community members on ELL instructional intervention practices in the district.
  • Participates in staff development activities to attain skills and strategies to enhance the ELL learning program.
  • Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor of impending absence in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities appropriate to student intervention, differentiated instruction and/or content training needs of the staff and district.
