Eligibility Worker I / Visalia
About The Position
Health Advocates is seeking an Eligibility Worker for our hospital site in Visalia, CA. Eligibility Workers help qualify patients/claimants for governmental benefits (Medi-Cal, VOC, SSI/SSDI, TPL, etc.) within established guidelines. Responsibilities include telephone or bedside screening, completing and submitting applications to appropriate county offices, follow-up with patient/family and county workers for successful completion of cases, and updating information in hospital computer database. Additional responsibilities may include participating in weekly hospital meetings to provide case updates, travel to other hospital client sites to provide support as needed, maintain and update logs and journals, generate reports, and perform miscellaneous related duties. This position requires access to confidential protected health information (PHI). Our employees are expected to protect the privacy of all PHI in accordance with Health Advocates’ privacy policies and procedures and as required by state and federal law including but not limited to the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rule.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1-2 years of customer experience; preferably in a call center, healthcare environment, or any combo of experience, education or training
- Basic office skills and computer literacy required
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to travel to other hospital sites as needed
- Ability to adapt and manage change in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
- Must be able to type 30 wpm

- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
