About The Position

The CCAP Eligibility Specialist shall administer the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) on behalf of the Illinois Department of Human Services to determine family eligibility for child care provider reimbursement. Administration includes, but is not limited to, initial and ongoing parent/guardian and provider eligibility, case document processing, case updates, termination of ineligible cases, walk-in customer service, answering and responding to phone calls, inquiries and action requests from IDHS, electronic case notes, work item notes, case verification call notes and provider notes.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent education and/or experience in social work, customer service, data entry, or related field. Equivalent defined as college credits and/or work hours equal to two (2) full years of education and/or full-time work
  • Technical proficiency with a personal computer and various software packages
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of community/services offered in area
  • Enjoy working as a team member as well as independently
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit, stand, bend, and twist
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute
  • Current Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
  • Must become Gateways to Opportunities Registry member within two (2) months of employment
  • Obtain and document a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional development annually
  • Completion of INCCRRA CSD training for new staff within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs data entry functions related to assigned caseload
  • Stays current with new policy changes & updates for use in case management
  • Maintains accurate and complete records on all cases
  • Links parents and providers to other CCS and YWCA programs for additional support
  • Maintain compliance with processing paperwork, phone calls, emails and reports that are required to be submitted
  • Preserves confidentiality of program, client, and provider information
  • Participates in staff meetings, working to uphold the mission of CCS and the YWCA
  • Participates in continuing education activities
  • Communicates with impartiality and respect for all parents’/guardians’ child care choices
  • Speaks to the purpose and services of the program
  • Responds with sensitivity to families’ socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic and religious backgrounds, individual needs and capabilities
  • Performs other duties as required by CCAP Supervisor, Director and CEO
